Cities: Skylines Is Building An 'Expanded Edition' On Switch 2 This Month
Skyscraper maker. Cities: Skylines launched in pretty rough shape on Switch back in 2018. It has been a long wait in the years since for an improved experience on our beloved Nintendo hybrids, and later this month, it sounds like we're getting it. Cities: Skylines - Expanded Edition is set to launch on Switch 2 on 28th October, fully revamped for the console with updated performance, visuals and controls.
Opinion: Elden Ring Is One Of My Favourite Games That I’ve Hardly Played
Going out on a Limgrave. I have started a new Elden Ring save file on four separate occasions now, and I have absolutely adored my time with each of them. And yet, despite putting 15-20 hours minimum into each new load, my current Switch 2 playthrough is the first time that I've managed to push through the 'tutorial area'. I need to do some explaining here, because if you have never ventured into the Lands Between, then three save files and 60+ hours spent in a tutorial sounds insane. However, in the grand scheme of things, it's not that bad.
Random: UK Retailer Lists Theatrhythm Sticker Set For A Whopping £499
At least it's half price, though. UK retailer Sports Direct doesn't exactly have the best reputation; especially following the acquisition of GAME in 2019 by owner Frasers Group. GAME in particular has often been slammed for its high prices, even before its acquisition. But a listing on the website for Sports Direct / GAME for a Theatrhythm Final Fantasy sticker set – yes, a sticker set – is quite beyond the pale. Read the full article on nintendolife.com
Review: Order Of The Sinking Star (Switch 2) - Intense, Sometimes Gruelling, But Always Inventive
What a puzzler. Order of the Sinking Star is not for the weak-willed. The latest puzzle adventure from Jonathan Blow (Braid, The Witness) makes the player earn their wins, rewarding them with an intriguing, slowly unfurling story set in a mystical plane beyond comprehension. My many hours spent staring at these puzzle boards with steam blowing out of my ears and veins popping out of my forehead made for a sometimes painful experience, but one that left me appreciating the genius of the game’s design.
Resident Evil Requiem's Writer Reveals What The Upcoming DLC Might Be About
Well, part of it at least. When Resident Evil Requiem launched to critical acclaim and became the fastest-selling entry in the franchise, director Koshi Nakanishi revealed that work would continue and that it would receive a DLC expansion in the future. Now, thanks to an interview with Requiem's writer Haris Orkin, we have a vague idea of what it might be about. Part of it, at least. Just be aware that the following information will contain spoilers for Requiem's main campaign, so if you've yet to play it and are keen to remain spoiler-free,
Pokémon Pokopia’s New Mystery Gift Distribution Is Now Available
Free furniture! If you didn't already know, the soundtrack was created by composer and musician ASADI (aka Danny Asadi). They previously called on him to compose the score for Ubisoft's Rogue Prince of Persia soundtrack. Read the full article on nintendolife.com

Nintendo Life eShop Selects (September 2026)
Our picks for the best eShop games on Switch 1 & 2 in September. September came and went, which means it's time to look back over the bounty it brought and place three of the Switch (2) eShop games we've reviewed last month on a podium. (You'll have to excuse the tardiness, we're a couple of days late this month.) We've got six games that scored at least 7/10 in time for our monthly face-off. As a reminder, these are Switch eShop games that don't have physical releases (including Game-Key Cards) at the time of writing.
Warhammer’s Take On Vampire Survivors Will Eat Our Free Time On Switch Next Month
Bolt Hell. Auroch Digital announced back in April that it was teaming up with Poncle on a Warhammer Vampire Survivors-like called, fittingly, Warhammer Survivors. Well, six months on, the dev has revealed its release date. Warhammer Survivors will launch on Switch 1 and 2 on 10th November — a time that we'll likely all be a little preoccupied with Zelda, but hey, it'll be a nice change of pace. The good news is that it'll only set you back £6.39 / $7.99 / €7.49, which feels like a small price to pay. Read the full article on nintendolife.com

“Nintendo Didn’t Swerve” - Product Growth Expert Comments On Zelda Vs. GTA 6
Let battle commence. In case you didn't notice by now, October is an exceptionally busy month for game releases. Why? Because every publisher and their nan is scrambling to avoid Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto VI in November. There are, however, still some games launching in November, perhaps most notably Barbie Rewind The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Yes, while GTA 6 is set to upend reality as we know it on 19th November, Ocarina of Time will hit shelves a little earlier on 5th November. Read the full article on nintendolife.com
Preview: Nintendo Switch Sports Resort Is More Of The Same, But Better
Wuhu Island: Be there or be (Spocco) Square. Back what seems like a lifetime ago, I got a chance to have a pop at Nintendo Switch Sports Resort at gamescom '26. No, I don’t mean the stuff that just anyone with a ticket and the patience to wait in an enormous queue could play. No, I got a chance to play sports that the average Joes could only dream of, like table tennis. I played prop plane, table tennis, archery, thumb wrestling, skateboarding, bowling, and boxing, but not necessarily in that order.
Review: KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind (DLC) - A Fair Switch 2 Port Of An Enjoyable ‘Conclusion’
The end of the beginning. There was a lot of hype and excitement in the lead-up to 2019's Kingdom Hearts 3. It promised to finally conclude the Dark Seeker Saga that had kicked off way back on the PS2 in 2002. Expectations were sky-high and the final product didn't quite stick the landing, but it did manage to deliver plenty of that sincere Kingdom Hearts magic that kept us invested since the beginning.

“I Wanted To Challenge Myself” - Former WarioWare Director Talks Life After Nintendo
Wario Where? Earlier this year, Nintendo veteran and WarioWare legend Goro Abe announced that he was leaving the company and taking up a teaching post at the Osaka Electro-Communication University. Roughly seven months on, VGC got the chance to chat with the dev about his post-Nintendo life, and, rather expectedly, games are still very much on his mind. “Making games takes a lot of time, and I knew that based on my age and career that I could not make that many more games in the future,” Abe told VGC.

NBA 2K25 Sounds The Buzzer On Its Best Game Modes, With A Delist & Server Shutdown Inbound
MyCareer and MyTeam hit the bench. We NBA 2K fans are no strangers to an online server shutdown, but 2K is pushing the boat out even further this year, as it has announced that NBA 2K25 is being fully delisted later this month, with the ensuing server closings pruning the title's two best game modes (thanks for the heads up, VGC). The publisher recently took to the 2K25 Steam page to announce that the game will be removed from online storefronts on 30th October 2026, with all online content shutting up shop on 31st December.
Review: KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue (Switch 2)
A bit of a sleeper. In the lead-up to Kingdom Hearts 3, Square Enix needed some fresh content to rebuild interest in the franchise after it had been dormant for years outside of mobile games. After porting over the collections of most of the earlier games to more modern platforms, the company then decided to squeeze out one last collection to hoover up the stragglers into one package. Dubbed Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, the value proposition on this one is undeniably lesser, but there’s still plenty to love about it.
Mini Review: KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX- (Switch 2)
Not a cloud in sight. The Kingdom Hearts series has a long and storied history with Nintendo handhelds dating back all the way to the GBA, though (debatably) there have never been any mainline titles developed for them. The ultimate monkey's paw then curled with the Switch, when Square Enix answered fan wishes to port over remastered collections, but they were delivered as icky cloud games. Luckily the company has since seen the error of its ways, and it's now released native versions for Switch 2 that deliver the full and proper experience,
Review: The Witcher III: Wild Hunt - Remastered (Switch 2) - A Huge Upgrade For An All-Time Great
Rivi-awesome. Getting The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to run on the original Nintendo Switch was an achievement in itself. Some obvious concessions had to be made, especially surrounding the visuals. Character models looked rather murky and the foliage around our protagonist Geralt had to be drastically toned down. With The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered, that issue has mostly been resolved. Thanks to the increased power of the Switch 2, this adventure has never looked better.

Review: Minecraft Dungeons II (Switch 2) - A Fun But Flawed Dungeon-Crawling Sequel With Great Co-Op
Creepers, Skellies, oh my. A traditional adventure format seems an ill fit for something as freeform as Minecraft. The Markus 'Notch' Persson-created global phenomenon is an experience built on creativity with endless scope for experimentation, so constricting it within the boundaries of genre seems misguided. That said, the franchise has enough cultural pull that it drove audiences to brandish wild animals in movie theatres, so there is clear versatility in this IP.

“A Colossal Upgrade” - Digital Foundry Delivers Its Tech Verdict For The Witcher 3 Remastered On Switch 2
"easy to recommend". Digital Foundry has delivered its tech verdict for The Witcher 3 Remastered; a game that, for many, will be a completely free upgrade if you owned the original Switch release. Obviously, the difference in quality between Switch 1 and 2 is staggering, despite DF calling the original release one of the "most impressive feats" on Nintendo's hardware. Image quality is the highlight, with docked mode featuring dynamic resolution between 540p and 1080p, with DLSS outputting to a 1080p target.

The predictability continued, of course, with all concert dates commanding exceptionally high demand.

The team made decisions and optimisations "one by one". Despite this, these troubles haven't stopped Capcom from bringing the game to Switch 2. Opinion: One Of My Favourite Games Is Being Remade, So Why Do I Feel So Down About It?
When you Triton your best but you don't succeed. No, I'm not talking about Ocarina of Time, have no fear. I have never shied away from my love for the Professor Layton series. In the years since the catchily titled Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy - Deluxe Edition launched on Switch, I have longed for another mainline game, feeling the pang of a top hat-shaped hole in my heart whenever I look back at the bookended original and prequel trilogies, which take pride of place on my shelf.

Grasshopper Manufacture has announced that it has parted way with parent company NetEase and is now once again an independent developer. This FromSoft-Inspired RPG Is Packed With Retro King’s Field Soul
DarkSoul, that is. Has all of that Elden Ring on Switch 2 got you craving some retro FromSoft? And we mean real retro FromSoft, none of your new-fangled Demon's or Dark Souls nonsense, but something more old-school, like King's Field? Well, Queen's Domain might be right up your street. This is a first-person RPG from indie dev Freshly Baked Games, and it wears its inspo proudly on its sleeve. From the retro-fantasy aesthetic to the tough-looking, stamina-based combat, this has got PS1 goodness written all over it.

While the demo is available today on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, SNK has unfortunately not committed to a firm date for the Switch 2 at the time of writing. That said, the game itself launches on 22nd October 2026, so we imagine the demo will drop around the same time, or possibly shortly after. Read the full article on nintendolife.com

Review: Mobapad C2 Lite Controller - The Best Budget Pad For Switch 2? Probably
SNESsential. If it’s not obvious by now, Mobapad makes really good controllers. The Chitu2 HD is a remarkable alternative to Nintendo’s own Pro Controller 2, offering the same ‘smooth-gliding’ analogue sticks that really should become industry standard. Similarly, the M12 HD Joy-Con come packed with features in a comfortable form factor, making them a compelling choice for those not keen on Nintendo’s slimmer official Joy-Con. More Nintendo LEGO Sets Are Being Retired This Year
Along with other gaming sets. It's a natural part of LEGO's lifecycle, but it's always sad to see it happen; a good few Nintendo-themed LEGO sets are being retired this year. TMNT: Splintered Fate Shreds Past Another Sales Milestone, Dev Reveals Most-Played Characters
Rockin' roguelike. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate channelled some big Hades energy when it arrived on Switch a couple of years ago, but familiarity is clearly no bad thing, as dev Super Evil Megacorp has today revealed that the game has surpassed a whopping 1.5 million sales. The total accounts for base game sales across all platforms, of course, but if you bundle in DLC sales as well, then Splintered Fate is sitting pretty on over 2.6 million copies shifted. Cowabunga indeed. Read the full article on nintendolife.com
“Let’s Aim For Disney” - Sonic Boss Reckons IP Has Only Reached Half Of Its Potential
"we haven’t quite gotten there yet". Sonic the Hedgehog boss Takashi Iizuka has claimed that the IP has apparently only reached half of its potential. This comes via a new interview with Japanese magazine Continue (thanks, VGC) in which he explains that Sonic hasn't yet reached the heights the development team wanted from the very beginning. In fact, it seems Sega was gunning for Disney from the start, and with the success of the Sonic movies recently, such a lofty goal may yet be in sight. Read the full article on nintendolife.com

Tales Of Eternia Is Getting A Proper Physical Release On Switch
Just don't expect an upgrade. Bandai Namco is bringing its role-playing game Tales of Eternia Remastered to the Switch and Switch 2 next month, and some more information about the physical release has now been uncovered. While it's apparently a "digital-only" release in the US, according to Nintendo Everything, there will be physical options elsewhere. If you are planning on picking up a hard copy, and want a proper version with "everything" on the game cart, you'll want to go with the original Switch release.

The Switch 2 Console Is Currently Cheaper Than Ever In The UK

While the console launched at £395.99 back in June 2025, its price was raised to £419.99 thanks to global component shortages. Right now, however, you can pick up a Switch 2 for £354.99 from either Argos or Smyths in the UK.

Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter comes in at number 2 with 24,724 sales on Switch 2, while the PS5 version managed to shift 21,753 units.

Review: RuneScape: Dragonwilds (Switch 2) - A Slow-Burn Survival-Crafting RPG That Underwhelms Visually
Phr33 st00f pl0x. A few years ago when I tried Old School RuneScape for the first time, I spent hours puttering around the starting area taking on basic quests, chopping down trees, and slaying goblins in the surrounding wilds. After each lengthy session, I would exit the game, lean back in my chair with a contented smile, and realise that I had accomplished essentially nothing of note.
Video: The Witcher 3 Remastered Side-By-Side Comparison, Switch Vs. Switch 2
Ciriously. Somehow, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt returned. CD Projekt Red surprised us all earlier this summer with the announcement that it was bringing the beloved RPG to Switch 2, complete with all of its DLC (even the new stuff) and tasty remastered visuals to boot. Fooseball? You playin' the fooseball?! PSA: The Witcher 3 Remastered File Size And Release Time Confirmed, Separate Purchase Required
No automatic upgrades here. The Witcher III: Wild Hunt - Remastered is right around the corner, launching on Switch 2 on 29th September 2026 (yes, that's tomorrow at the time of writing). Many of you already own the original Switch release, so the good news is that this new version is completely free for you. However, unlike PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, which automatically upgrade the original game to the Remastered version, you'll have to download a completely separate product on Switch 2. Opinion: I Played Mario Kart Tour Every Day For Seven Years, And What Am I Left With?
Chequered flag. On 24th September 2019, Nintendo launched Mario Kart Tour for mobile devices. This was Mario’s second outing in mobile gaming, following 2016’s Super Mario Run, which had an impressive initial reception but seemingly failed to generate much revenue (compared with other big mobile games, including Nintendo’s own Fire Emblem Heroes). Mario Kart Tour aimed to change that, built with mobile player expectations in mind, and ultimately proved more successful than Super Mario Run at the time.
Review: Voidjoy GA-10 Elite Extender For Switch Pro Controller - The Pros Don’t Outweigh The (Mod) Cons
Voidco. With the price of consoles, controllers, games, groceries — everything — shooting up over the last few years, you're likely keen to save pennies where you can. It's one thing to push the boat out for a new Switch 2, but add-ons and accessories can stretch budgets to breaking point. Is a $90 / £75 Pro Controller 2 really an essential purchase when your old Switch 1 Pro Controller is working just fine?
Poll: So, How Many Hours Have You Spent In Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave?
Only a handful of players have shared their completion times. RPGs often require players to invest a lot of their time, and the Switch 2 exclusive Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is no different. In fact, the newest chapter in Intelligent Systems' tactical turn-based series is apparently so big that even a week after this title's release, the website 'How Long To Beat' still has little to no playtime data about the title. "I absolutely love Luigi's Mansion!". We've all experienced a game-induced argument over the years, and for most of us here at Nintendo Life Towers, Ghost Town Games is to thank. This is the developer that brought us Overcooked and subsequently awakened a Michelin-star chef in each of us, barking out orders at our friends and significant others as if Anton Ego himself was waiting at the door, demanding to be fed. Best Castlevania Games, Ranked - Switch & Nintendo Consoles
Far from a miserable pile. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the series, we're republishing this ranked list of every Castlevania game to appear on Nintendo systems. Enjoy! The Castlevania series has a rich history on Nintendo consoles ever since the original game came first to the Japanese Famicom Disk System way back in 1986, and then to the NES a year later.
Anniversary: Castlevania Changed The Shape Of Gaming 40 Years Ago
What is a man?! Gaming franchises really don't get much more iconic than Castlevania. First launched as Akumajō Dracula for the humble NES on 26th September 1986, the series has now turned 40 years old. And despite a few ups and downs (it really felt like it was dead and buried for a while there, huh?), it seems Konami is once again determined to bring it back into the spotlight with the upcoming Castlevania: Belmont's Curse on 15th October 2026. Video: Digital Foundry Delivers Its Tech Analysis Of Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave
Fire Emblem's dedicated Switch 2 release is here. Intelligent Systems' turn-based tactical RPG Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave launched on Switch 2 last week and Digital Foundry has now taken a quick look at how it performs on Nintendo's new hybrid system. The new entry runs at a "locked" 30fps. Although this falls short of other first-party titles on Switch 2 (with games such as Mario Kart World running at 60fps), it's still described as being an improvement on the Switch title Fire Emblem Engage, with "no drops".

120fps + an exclusive "Gauntlet Mode". We're into the final week of September and the video games have been coming so thick and fast that it's hard to keep up. One such game — indie Soulslike Fountains — released just last week on 17th September, although perhaps missing out on day one wasn't such a bad thing in this case: a free Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack has appeared on the eShop which adds 120fps support. Four Years After Release, Splatoon 3’s Player Numbers Are On The Up In 2026
A Raiders resurgence. It has been quite a big year for Splatoon, and the player numbers for the latest mainline entry apparently show it, even though it has been on the market for four years now. That's according to Splatoon 3 director Seita Inoue, who, in a new interview with Famitsu (translated by Nintendo Everything), said that things have been on the up and up for the game in 2026. Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave?
Are you not entertained? The latest entry in Intelligent Systems' strategy RPG series hit Switch 2 last week, and it's a big one. With five protagonists, you'll easily be hitting a triple-digit hour count if you want to see absolutely everything Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave has to offer. That said, after a week with it, launch-day fans have been able to spend a good deal of time in the company of Cai, Leda, Deitrich, Theodora, and Eshmel, and have had the chance to form their own opinions.

Nintendo Reportedly Rejected A Ubisoft Zelda Spin-Off Starring Ganondorf
What if? A new "exclusive" report from Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson has supposedly lifted the lid on a Ubisoft Zelda project that never saw the light of day. The story, which is based on "reporting conducted over more than 18 months" and has been "independently corroborated", claims Ubisoft Milan (the Mario + Rabbids studio) pitched a Zelda spin-off featuring a previously unknown protagonist. Nintendo apparently liked the concept but told Ubisoft to replace the character with Ganondorf. Read the full article on nintendolife.com
Hands On: Viture Pro 2 XR Glasses - Big-Screen On A Budget
(If you consider $300 glasses to be cheap, that is...). While many people were confident that XR glasses were nothing but a fad, the market for this tech appears to have grown over the past couple of years, and it's not hard to see why. These glasses are now lightweight enough to wear comfortably, and the tiny screens inside are sharp and bright, which finally means they can truly live up to the promise of delivering a big-screen experience without the need for an insanely expensive TV. Rumour: Zelda Movie Rumblings Suggest A First Trailer Might Be Around The Corner
Or is it just wishful thinking? We were all expecting something more, right? Some kind of teaser or perhaps a full-blown trailer? Well, the rumour mill has been a-turning in the weeks since, and a closer look might be just around the corner.
Review: DRAGON QUEST XI S: Echoes Of An Elusive Age - Definitive Edition (Switch 2) - Square Enix Needs To Get With The Upgrade Path Program
Well, at least it looks a little nicer. Believe it or not, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age was the first title ever announced for the original Switch, back when it was only known publicly as the mysterious 'NX' project. When it came out in 2019, it quickly asserted itself both as one of the finest RPGs on the system and as further proof of the calibre of games we could expect from the hybrid device. It was no surprise then that Square Enix decided to port it for the next generation, though the outcome feels anticlimactic.
Quick! Switch 2 Consoles Have Just Been Heavily Discounted In The UK
