CLI v3.0.71
Plugins now load inside the hub instead of a separate node or bun process, so the CLI no longer needs a JavaScript runtime on your PATH to run plugins. A plugin that fails to load no longer silently loses its tools: Cline prints a warning naming the plugin and the error, cline config tools --json lists it as a plugin_failure entry, and the new cline hub plugins shows each plugin's status and last error (--reload re-imports one without restarting the hub). Set CLINE_PLUGIN_MODE=sandbox to keep the old subprocess behavior
SDK v0.0.93
Plugins load in-process through one registry per process instead of a node/bun subprocess, so the compiled CLI and its hub no longer need a runtime on PATH, and plugins can use the Bun global under the Bun-built hub. CLINE_PLUGIN_MODE=sandbox keeps the subprocess sandbox. The registry wraps import, setup, hooks, tools and commands with timeouts and error capture, and tracks each plugin's state (loading/ready/degraded/failed/disabled) with its last error.

The AI SDK moves together to one release line: ai 7.0.120 and every @ai-sdk/* package on @ai-sdk/provider-utils 5.0.50 (previously ai 7.0.79 with packages bumped one by one). Turning reasoning off no longer sends reasoning.effort: "none" to OpenAI models that can't turn it off, such as GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol (GPT-6 Astra answered with a 400, for example from commit message generation); GPT-5.x and GPT-6 Sol/Luna still get "none".

SDK v0.0.91
Responses that end with a missing or unrecognized finish reason are no longer treated as successful completions. AgentModelFinishReason gains unknown (the AI SDK adapter maps unified other and missing reasons to it instead of stop). Without tool activity, the agent keeps the partial response and continues once with a hidden user message; a second unknown finish fails the run. Queued user messages are now consumed at every request boundary, including the first iteration

Agent teams no longer slow down as a session runs or while a teammate is streaming. Every streamed chunk and 2-second heartbeat used to re-save the whole team state, including every finished teammate's full transcript (one local teams.db reached 1.66 GB, with a single run row rewritten ~339k times).

Release v4.1.22 · cline/cline
Added New providers: Bee (by HEOSSI) and Pareto Inference (PARETO_API_KEY). Changed Direct Anthropic requests now use Anthropic's server-side refusal fallback. On OpenRouter and Cline, Anthropic models can fail over to another upstream provider instead of failing the request. When a response is blocked by a content filter, Cline now says so and suggests rephrasing, instead of "Model returned empty response". Refreshed the model catalog.

The app now starts on machines that set a system HTTP(S) proxy, such as Clash, v2ray, or a corporate proxy. Before, the backend sent its local connection checks through the proxy, so it couldn’t fi

Added New provider: ai&, an OpenAI-compatible endpoint serving open-weight models from Japan. Changed Refreshed the model catalog to 6,386 models across 209 providers. The resolved default model changes for 19 providers that do not pin one, 11 of them to Claude Opus 5.5 (including GitHub Copilot and Vertex). If you use one of those providers without pinning a model, expect a different default. Raised the minimum js-yaml version to 4.3.2 to pick up a security fix in the parser used to read rule and skill frontmatter.

Changed Sub-agents spawned in the same step now run their tool calls at the same time rather than one after another. Tools that must run in order still do, and the parent still waits for every result before its next turn.

Added Images attached to a model that cannot read them are now flagged instead of silently discarded. Thumbnails get a warning badge and the composer explains that the images will be ignored, with a button to switch to an image-capable model. Previously the thumbnail looked normal and the image was replaced with a text placeholder just before the request, so there was no way to tell it had been dropped. Model info and the attachment picker also report image support accurately for models that declare text-only input without listing capabilities.

Queued messages can now be sent into the running turn with Enter. While the agent is working, pressing Enter with an empty composer steers the first message in the queue, so it is picked up at the next turn boundary instead of waiting for the whole task to finish; the composer placeholder says so whenever the queue is non-empty. The queue head is claimed atomically, so a fast second Enter can't steer a message that has already left the queue, and a steer that fails now surfaces as a toast rather than silently doing nothing
V4.1.18: docs(skills): rewrite publish-extension for the completed SDK cutover
The ext-sdk-bundle-rollout flag reached 100%, so stable releases now ship a standalone build of main through ext-vscode-publish-stable.yml rather than the combined legacy+next A/B VSIX. Rewrite the skill around that path and record what is left to retire. Also corrects two things the old text got wrong: nightly is manual-dispatch only (the cron was removed because PublishNightly gained required reviewers, so unattended runs sat waiting and starved their successors), and the stable

Hub-managed Agent Plugins. Packages under ~/.agents/plugins/* on the hub host are discovered and validated from their root plugin.json; valid skills under skills/ are exposed through the skills tool as plugin-name:skill-name, and stdio, Streamable HTTP, and legacy SSE servers from mcp.json are started without touching cline_mcp_settings.json. Workspace .agents/plugins directories are deliberately not scanned, so opening a repo cannot implicitly start repo-controlled MCP servers; extra roots require an explicit agentPluginPaths.

An expired Cline sign-in now produces one actionable error instead of two dead ends. A turn that fails before the runtime takes the prompt was reported twice — the hub's detail-less run.failed appended a bubble, then the send RPC resolved with the real error and overwrote the error banner underneath it — so you got a vague bubble stacked on a detailed banner. The failure now renders exactly once, upgrading in place when the detailed report arrives.
